POSITION SUMMARY

The Residential Life Community Coordinator is a 12-month live-in position that works closely with the Director of Community Standards and Residential Life to ensure a successful and supportive residence life experience for University of Providence students. By living on campus and being readily available to respond to crises and urgent situations, the coordinator helps maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students. Additionally, the Coordinator develops and implements programs and activities that foster a sense of community, well-being, and belonging among residents, and supports students in developing the skills needed to navigate the opportunities and challenges of university life.

This position also manages the Resident Assistant (RA) staff, providing leadership to promote an atmosphere that supports academic achievement and responsible decision-making. The coordinator supports community and student development through RA programming and is responsible for professional and effective communication with students, parents, staff, faculty, and other members of the campus community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Train, supervise, and evaluate Resident Assistants (RAs).
  • Implement and support a community engagement model.
  • Facilitate RA training for crisis response and assume "on-call" duties.
  • Manage administrative and operational functions of residence halls and apartments.
  • Oversee housing and residence life in the absence of the Director.
  • Lead and supervise educational and social programming within residence halls.
  • Address residents' needs and concerns, and respond to residence life issues.
  • Handle confidential matters and make appropriate referrals.
  • Develop multicultural awareness and contribute to an inclusive university community.
  • Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior with all university members.
  • Review and assist in developing residence life policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a Student Conduct Administrator and resolve disciplinary issues.
  • Conduct training on residence hall office functions and policies.
  • Lead day-to-day operations of Residential Learning Communities and other initiatives.
  • Be available for crisis situations and provide immediate support.
  • Manage facility, maintenance, and security records, collaborating with housing staff.
  • Maintain and update student housing assignments and records.
  • Collaborate with various university departments for residence hall tours and housing needs.
  • Communicate with residents about health, safety, and other issues.
  • Facilitate collaboration for student move-in and orientation.
  • Participate in New Student orientation and Welcome Week activities.
  • Coordinate occupancy management, including check-in/check-out and room consolidation.
  • Maintain visibility and availability within the hall, initiating informal student contacts.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings with RAs.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, supervising, and assessing the residential curriculum.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Two years of relevant experience in a related field. Graduate and undergraduate student experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of student conduct proceedings, Title IX, Clery Act, VAWA, and other higher education compliance/legal issues is preferred.
